Scientist
Areas of Interest:

I completed my B.Sc. (Ag) in 2004 from Acharya N.G Ranga Agricultural University, Hyderabad. I completed M.Sc. Ag (Genetics & Plant Breeding) in 2007 from University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad and obtained PhD in 2013 from ICAR – Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. I joined Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Government of India as scientist in 2011. I have visited Research Scholl of Biology, Australian National University for nine months (15.01.208 to 14.10.2018) Canberra under Indo-Australian career boosting gold fellowships 2016-17 programme sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. During this period I have worked on a project titled “Using genome editing to unravel Fusarium wilt resistance in tomato”.  Currently, I am working on genetic improvement of tomato against biotic stresses through multiple approaches like working on reported resistance genes through marker assisted selection, identifing and utolization of new resistance sources trough wide hybridization and genome editing with CRISPR/Cas-9 tool.  I am also working on genetic improvement of baby corn

Patents, Technology, Methodology, Genetic Stock, Variety, etc.::

I was associated in development of two tomato varieties

1. Kashi Adarsh:

It was identified and recommended for cultivation in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The variety is resistant to tomato leaf curl virus disease. Variety carries an allele of Ty-3 gene.

2. Kashi Amul:

It was identified and recommended for cultivation in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.  The variety is resistant to tomato leaf curl virus disease. Variety carries an allele of Ty-3 gene.

Fellowship:

1. Junior Research Fellowship during M.Sc (Ag) programme sponcered by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, India

2. Senior Research Fellowship during Ph.D programme sponcered by ICAR- Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India

3. Indo-Australian career boosting gold fellowships 2016-17 sponcered by Department of Biotechnology Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.
