Major Research Accomplishments: 

Discovered anticancer & antifertility biomolecules in Piper betle, developed first transgenic bt-tomato, brinzal, rice & conducted first GMOs field trial in India, Formulated rules & regulations of GM trails in India. Established Indian Microbial Culture collection institute NBAIM, Initiated work on endophytic & rare actinomycetes, Integrated the biodiversity conservation approaches of different bureaus of ICAR (NBPGR, NBAGR, NBAII, NBFGR & NBAIM working on plant, animal, insect, fish & microbes respectively), Declaration of National Microbe at UN, CBD, COP11 etc.

 Expert for project proposal evaluation submitted to Department of Biotechnology (DBT) GOI; ICAR etc.

His opinion articles "India needs home grown GM food to stop starvation" in reputed Nature journal has been adopted as policy documents by 'Niti Aayog' think tank of GOI in formulating GM policy of the nation and other two articles "Stop teaching Indians to copy & paste" and  "Push for science in Indian classrooms" in same reputed journal Nature have already been adopted by the GOI to formulate the "New Education Policy" of the India.
